The gasoline-powered GLC has been a runaway success for Mercedes-Benz, consistently topping its sales charts for years. It's the kind of vehicle that quietly defines a brand - practical, luxurious, and popular. Now, the German automaker is making its boldest move yet in the electric transition by unveiling an all-electric version of its bestseller. At the IAA MOBILITY 2025 show in Munich, Mercedes-Benz will pull the wraps off the new GLC with EQ Technology, ushering a new era for one of its most critical models.
The new electric GLC will be the star of the show, and for good reason. Converting a top-seller to an electric vehicle is a high-stakes bet. The company describes the new model as the "new face of the brand," aiming to keep the "iconic, versatile, and intuitive" nature of the original while moving it firmly into the electric future. While Mercedes has a growing lineup of EVs, electrifying the model that so many of its loyal customers already own is a big step.
But the GLC won't be arriving alone. Mercedes is using the IAA MOBILITY to reveal the full breadth of its electric ambitions. Sharing the stage will be the all-new CLA family, which will be available with both electric and hybrid powertrains, together with the brand-new all-electric CLA Shooting Brake.
Mercedes will also provide a glimpse into its more distant future. The brand will show off the technology-packed CONCEPT AMG GT XX that hints at the first production model to be built on the dedicated high-performance AMG.EA electric platform. For a different kind of luxury, Mercedes is promising a sneak peek at a camouflaged prototype of its all-new VLE, an all-electric "Grand Limousine" ready to hit the roads in 2026.
Mercedes-Benz understands that seeing is one thing, but experiencing is another, and the company will bring a fleet of 30 electric and electrified vehicles for passenger rides, allowing visitors to experience the technology firsthand.
Guests will be able to take a co-drive in a specially prepared CLA to see the MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO system in action, which enables point-to-point automated driving, and there will be demonstrations of Mercedes' DRIVE PILOT system in an EQS or S-Class.
The entire event at the IAA MOBILITY 2025 from 9-14 September is part of a massive product launch for the brand, and it'll be split between two main locations. The public-facing "Open Space" at Apothekenhof will feature the new models and ride-along opportunities.
Meanwhile, at the "Summit" in the Messe München exhibition center, industry professionals can get a closer look at the all-electric GLC and CLA Shooting Brake, as well as the AMG GT XX concept and the whole event will be livestreamed.
