Tesla implements an undismissible feedback window when intervening FSD

Tesla

Tesla implemented a feedback system for its Full Self Driving feature a while ago. Previously, you were able to record a voice note, tap on the screen and flag the reason for intervening on FSD or dismiss the feedback dialogue window entirely.

Tesla implements an undismissible feedback window when intervening on FSD

However, with the latest update that came around in late April, dismissing the pop-up window is no longer an option. The dialogue window gives you a few reasons to choose from - navigation, preference, discomfort and critical, but there's no way to get rid of the window. Recording a voice note is still an option, though.

That has created not just annoyance with FSD users, but also a potential safety hazard. The dialogue window appears right after disengaging FSD - a critical moment in which the driver doesn't need any more distractions.

Additionally, the first iterations of the undismissible window overlapped with basic functions on the screen like climate control and navigation. To Tesla's credit, that issue has been fixed, but the inability to dismiss the window is quite annoying. Not to mention the preset reasons for disengagement don't always match the situation, so drivers often choose a random reason, which in turn defeats the purpose of the feedback system.

A quick workaround is to double-press the microphone button on the steering wheel. That will send Tesla an empty voice note, but at least the pop-up window disappears.

It's clear that Tesla wants to create more data points and collect as much data as possible on FSD interventions, but forcing users to find a workaround for the feedback system will probably do more harm than good.
