Zeekr Review

Zeekr is rapidly expanding across Europe, its models becoming an increasingly common sight in markets where the brand had virtually no presence just a year ago. That growth reflects the strength of its current lineup, and today we get the chance to test one of its most ambitious models, the Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD.

The Zeekr 7GT is a sleek electric wagon aimed squarely at models such as the BMW i5 Touring and Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo. Designed in Gothenburg, Sweden, its European focus is obvious from the outset. SUVs may dominate the headlines, but wagons remain hugely popular across Europe, and Zeekr clearly wants a piece of that market.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

Today, we are testing the range-topping 7GT Privilege AWD. Its dual motor setup produces 475 kW (646 hp) and 524 lb-ft, enough to launch it from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Performance is only part of the story, though, as the sizable 100 kWh battery should also make long-distance travel one of its strengths.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the 7GT is that it refuses to specialize. Zeekr wants it to be luxurious, spacious, fast, modern and versatile all at once, without making any major sacrifices along the way. Those are bold claims from a relatively young brand, so today we are finding out how well they hold up in the real world.

Exterior

The Zeekr 7GT's exterior is shaped by smooth, flowing body lines, broken up by contrasting details that give the car its identity. Earlier Zeekr models shared more visual DNA with sister brand Lynk & Co, particularly through their vertical daytime running lights and low mounted headlights. The 7GT and its 7X SUV sibling move away from that formula by grouping all the lighting elements in one housing, resulting in a cleaner and sleeker front end.

A huge black strip stretches across the entire nose and even continues beyond the wheel arches. It serves no real purpose beyond adding visual flair, so whether it works is entirely down to personal taste. The almost mandatory full width LED light bar is mounted underneath it, slightly broken up by the front camera unit, which only makes the black panel feel even weirder.

From the side, the 7GT adopts classic shooting brake design with a gently sloping roofline. It looks elegant, although that style inevitably comes at the expense of some cabin space compared to boxier rivals.

The AWD version comes standard with 20-inch wheels and four-piston orange brake calipers, a detail that has become something of a signature for Zeekr’s range-topping models.

The door handles remain flush with the body and extend automatically as the key is detected to be nearby. More impressively, the Privilege AWD adds fully automatic opening and closing doors, bringing a level of luxury never before seen in this segment.

Typical for the Geely family, the 7GT utilizes the beautiful frameless wing mirrors, adding that much more sophistication to the outside look. Sadly, they have to be adjusted through the multimedia display instead of the usual dials on the driver’s door.

At the rear, another LED light bar spans the width of the tailgate, again interrupted only by a centrally mounted camera. Above it sits an unusual split roof spoiler, complemented by a subtle ducktail spoiler lower down.

Zeekr takes an unconventional approach to branding. Instead of placing its badge or lettering on the tailgate, the 7GT wears a large Zeekr script across the lower section of the rear window. It is far less obvious at a quick glance than the usual oversized badge treatment.

Interior

As Geely’s luxury brand, Zeekr sets high expectations for interior quality, and the 7GT meets them almost immediately. Materials and build quality are exceptional, with no creaks or rattles no matter how hard we tried to find them. Everything feels solidly assembled and all plastic surfaces are soft and pleasant to touch.

The door panels are particularly attractive, turning the audio speaker into a visual centerpiece surrounded by elegant window controls. There is no conventional door handle either. Instead, a button electronically releases the door, while the Privilege version can even open and close it automatically, essentially giving you a tiny electronic chauffeur.

The steering wheel has an unconventional shape that makes quick maneuvering slightly less natural than with a traditional round design, although good road feedback largely compensates for that shortcoming. The controls are intuitive and surrounded by attractive detailing, making adjustments easy while driving.

The stalks behind it feel reassuringly substantial. The right stalk is the gear selector and activates cruise control with a second press while driving, cleverly eliminating another steering wheel button. Less impressive are the self-centering indicators, a solution BMW once popularized and eventually abandoned for good reason. They remain needlessly unintuitive here.

The digital instrument cluster offers little customization and its dark graphics can sometimes be difficult to read in bright daylight. Most essential information remains permanently visible, however, and climate functions can even be adjusted through the steering wheel controls, which we wish to see integrated in more vehicles.

A head-up display is included on all but the base version and is well worth having. It is bright and crisp, displaying speed, limits, vehicle information and even a large navigation map with directions directly in the driver’s line of sight.

What looks like a sensor in the center of the dashboard is actually another speaker, positioned there exclusively as a design feature.

The huge central touchscreen controls virtually everything in the 7GT. It is bright, responsive and quick, although the sheer number of menus and submenus can become overwhelming. Even opening the glovebox requires a visit to the screen.

Only five physical buttons sit beneath it, controlling the locks, tailgate, audio and windshield defrost. The fifth is programmable, allowing you to assign a frequently used function of your choice.

The center console starts with two ventilated wireless charging pads, followed by a large storage area and two cup holders. More impressive than the layout itself is how solid everything feels. There is a sense of sturdiness here that many modern premium cars have somehow forgotten.

Under the armrest is another generous storage compartment accompanied by two USB-C ports, including one capable of delivering 60W.

A huge panoramic glass roof comes as standard in the 7GT. It opens up some headroom and makes the cabin brighter but on extremely sunny days we would enjoy having some kind of solid shading.

The seats prioritize long distance comfort without completely giving up lateral support, fitting the grand touring character of the 7GT perfectly. Moreover, they offer heating, cooling and massaging features to ensure the coziest possible seating experience. A speaker integrated into the driver’s headrest handles phone calls privately, allowing the driver to hear conversations clearly without broadcasting them through the entire cabin.

Rear passengers receive fewer toys, but Zeekr compensates with an enormous amount of space. Legroom is among the best in the segment, while headroom remains generous despite the sloping roofline. Even our 1.95 m (6'4") reviewer fits comfortably behind his own driving position.

The upper section of the rear seats can also be adjusted forwards or backwards for additional comfort. Beyond that, the rear is relatively simple, although a silver-plated coat hanger mounted to the B-pillar provides a subtle reminder of the 7GT’s business class ambitions.

Storage

The generous rear legroom comes with an inevitable compromise, as the Zeekr 7GT offers less trunk space than several direct rivals. That is particularly disappointing in a wagon, where practicality is often one of the main reasons buyers choose the body style in the first place.

Some of that shortfall is offset by additional storage beneath the floor, which can also be positioned at two different heights for added flexibility but the overall storage space remains the rather tight 16.1 ft³.

Main trunk and under it Main trunk and under it Main trunk and under it
Main trunk and under it

With the rear seats folded, however, the 7GT redeems itself with a sizeable 49.1 ft³ cargo area. The wide trunk opening makes loading bulky items easy, although the seat backs sit slightly higher than the cargo floor. A completely flat loading surface would have made the space even more useful.

Up front, there is also a small 1.13 ft³ frunk, which is best suited to charging cables and other rarely used items. RWD versions of the 7GT benefit from roughly twice as much front storage.

Driving experience

Not long ago, buying a Chinese car often meant accepting a subpar driving experience and a few rough edges in exchange for a lower price. That picture is changing quickly. Chinese manufacturers are investing heavily in development, hiring European engineers and designers, and the results are increasingly obvious.

The Zeekr 7GT reinforces that impression. From behind the wheel, it never feels like a budget alternative or a compromise.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

The steering is one of its strongest points. It communicates grip levels clearly and makes the car easy to place, even when approaching the limits. Those who prefer a more relaxed setup can lighten the steering response through the center screen, making everyday driving considerably easier.

Push harder and the 7GT becomes genuinely impressive. Few executive wagons feel this composed on a twisty road. Body roll is kept remarkably well under control and the car stays planted through fast direction changes. Its considerable mass only becomes obvious when braking hard downhill into a corner, where physics finally reminds you how much car you are carrying. Everywhere else, it feels more like something weighing around 3,968 lb, which is a compliment in this day and age.

The AWD system and traction control add another layer of confidence. Put the power down on questionable asphalt and the 7GT simply hooks up and launches itself out of corners without unnecessary drama. Same goes for grippy roads that can instantly become a drag strip off a dig.

Our test car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires, which attempt the difficult task of balancing low rolling resistance with serious grip. They do neither perfectly, but perform comfortably above average in both areas.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

One thing the 7GT removes almost completely is the sensation of speed inside the cabin. That is excellent for comfort and refinement, but slightly less exciting when you are trying to enjoy all that performance.

Unlike many EVs, the Zeekr doesn’t have a powerful regenerative braking system. Albeit possible on paper, one-pedal driving is not practically usable. The car does slow down to zero but that process takes way too long and is thus impossible in the real world.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

Zeekr tries to bring some drama back through artificial engine sounds played through the speakers. Several options are available, although all of them sound obviously synthetic. They are entertaining for a few minutes, but the novelty fades quickly. In an executive wagon like this, silence suits the car much better anyway.

The air suspension also allows the 7GT to raise itself for larger obstacles or lower the body for a sleeker stance and improved aerodynamics at speed.

Maneuverability is not quite as impressive as in rivals equipped with rear wheel steering or tighter steering angles, although the excellent camera system largely compensates by providing clear visibility in virtually every situation.

The biggest frustration when driving the 7GT in Europe comes from the driver assistants. They reactivate every time the car is started and disabling them requires digging through several menus. Other manufacturers manage the same task with a shortcut or physical button. Worse still, some of the systems are very intrusive so switching them off feels less like rejecting modern technology and more like preserving your sanity.

“Zeekr AD” houses all of the driver assistance systems and represents the infotainment’s biggest weakness. Every function gets its own toggle, but the menu lacks intuitive organization. Frequently adjusted systems can require several scrolls and touches to reach, while less important settings remain immediately visible. Considering how intrusive some of the assistants can be, this becomes frustrating very quickly.

The camera system in the Zeekr 7GT is sublime and leaves nothing to be desired. On the other hand, it also incorporates the self-parking features, where the Zeekr simply falls short of virtually any other modern vehicle and lacks precision.

Ride comfort

When it comes to ride comfort, the Zeekr 7GT AWD is noticeably on the firmer side. Despite being equipped with air suspension, it can feel surprisingly crashy over rougher surfaces and never quite matches the refinement found elsewhere in the car. It is far from uncomfortable, but the setup feels underwhelming when several rivals deliver a smoother ride without even relying on air suspension.

Tech features

The Zeekr 7GT is packed with technology and easily competes with the most advanced cars on the market. Unfortunately, almost everything is controlled through the central touchscreen, including frequently used functions that many rivals still assign to physical buttons. The technology is impressive, but accessing it while driving is not always ideal.

The home screen itself is busy but customizable. Navigation occupies most of the display, while a configurable column on the left provides shortcuts to driving and vehicle functions.

Along the top sit much smaller controls for the locks, voice assistant, phone connectivity and Sentry mode, Zeekr’s built-in surveillance system.

Another permanent row at the bottom provides access to climate, music and vehicle settings.

Basic climate adjustments can be made directly from the lower row at all times, while opening the full panel reveals considerably more detailed controls. An interactive exterior view of the 7GT also allows individual vehicle functions to be operated directly from the screen.

There are plenty of more unusual features, too. Camping mode switches off the displays and all lighting while keeping climate control and electrical functions available. Pet mode follows a similar principle, maintaining a comfortable cabin for animals left inside while parked.

Then things get slightly weirder. The 7GT can effectively become a giant megaphone while stationary, allowing your voice to be broadcast outside. There are even several preset sounds available. Practical? Debatable. Entertaining? Absolutely!

The car also caters surprisingly well to anyone in need of a nap. Several relaxation themes combine ambient sounds or music with appropriate climate settings, while a built-in timer can wake you when it’s time to continue the journey.

Unfortunately, Zeekr’s obsession with menus continues inside the vehicle settings. A “quick settings” page includes controls for ride height and drive modes, but also repeats functions for the mirrors, head up display and steering wheel that already appear elsewhere.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

Thankfully, Apple CarPlay integration is excellent. It connects instantly and remained completely reliable throughout our time with the car. Combined with the huge, sharp display, it is one of the better CarPlay implementations we have encountered.

Cabin noise

Insulation is not the finest part of the Zeekr 7GT but it's not too disappointing either. Some tire noise enters the cabin at lower speeds, but it barely increases as you speed up, which helps the car feel noticeably more refined on the highway. Subjectively, thanks to the tremendous built quality, the cabin feels quieter than it is.

Sound level tests are carried out with a specialized sound level meter placed in the car's cupholders. The test is conducted with air conditioning and radio off and while maintaining a steady speed.

Acceleration and braking

Station wagons are no longer the mundane haulers of the past and offer some tremendous performance. The Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD accelerates like a supercar and pulls with grace unlike the sharp punch most EVs deliver off the line. The acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes 3.34 seconds, which is just an exact match for the manufacturer's claims.

Braking is important in such quick vehicles and the Zeekr 7GT AWD manages to execute a safe stop from 62 mph in 36 m (118'1"). This value is satisfactory for the segment. The values for the rival BMW i5 Touring are inflated due to the harsh winter conditions while testing so we'd advise against direct comparisons there.

Acceleration and deceleration are measured with a RaceBox device inside the car. Testing is done with a single person inside the car, with air conditioning and traction control off.

Consumption

The AWD variant is not the most efficient version of the Zeekr 7GT, although it performs at a very high level. In terms of pure efficiency, there are better vehicles to choose from but as a whole the 7GT is an incredibly appealing package. Thanks to the huge battery pack and the ultra-quick charging, the Zeekr 7GT AWD can effortlessly cover great distances without having to carefully plan stops or drive below the speed limit.

For our detailed opinion on the Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD’s range and efficiency, please check our detailed range test article.

We measure consumption by driving at constant speeds on an identical test route during the day. Testing is conducted with air conditioning, all safety systems and radio on. The data comes from the vehicle's board computer. Specific testing parameters such as ambient temperature are mentioned in the text on a case by case basis.

You can use the widget below to find out the Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD’s range in every combination of speed and temperature you might need. We've used our real world tests and a complex model to provide an estimate that should be as close to the actual performance as possible.

Charging speed

One of the Zeekr 7GT’s biggest strengths, and a major advantage over many rivals, is its exceptionally fast charging. We were unable to verify the claimed 480 kW peak, but even on a 300 kW charger the results were outstanding.

Charging from 10 to 80% took just 17 minutes, only one minute slower than Zeekr’s claimed 16 minute figure under ideal conditions. That puts the 7GT among the fastest charging EVs on the market, and at this price point there is nothing that can match it.

The cherry on top is that the Zeekr 7GT can be used as a portable battery thanks to the V2L function, allowing you to charge external devices through the charge port.

Competition

The Zeekr 7GT’s established rivals generally play in a very different price bracket, making direct comparisons based purely on cost rather difficult. That only strengthens the Zeekr’s case, as it delivers exceptional built quality, generous equipment, huge performance, plenty of cabin space and extremely fast charging at a far more accessible price. There are surprisingly few drawbacks.

Our first rival is the Nio ET5 Touring, another Chinese premium wagon rapidly gaining ground in Europe. The Nio takes a more relaxed approach, prioritizing a softer ride, comfort and quirky technology rather than outright performance. Its trunk is even smaller than the Zeekr’s and rear passengers get less space. The 7GT also feels better built, charges faster and is considerably quicker, while the Nio generally costs slightly more depending on the market.

The second rival comes from a much more established European name - the Audi A6/S6 Avant e-tron. The Audi costs significantly more, yet the differences between the two are small. It offers more screens and a larger trunk, but in most other measurable areas the Zeekr either matches it or comes out ahead.

That ultimately is the 7GT in a nutshell. It competes with premium electric wagons at a fraction of the price, making the badge on the nose one of the few major arguments left in favor of its more established rivals. The biggest question mark remains the relatively young Zeekr name, particularly compared with established premium manufacturers. If the brand proves itself over time, even that disadvantage should gradually disappear.

Verdict

The Zeekr 7GT is one of those cars that makes you wonder just how uncomfortable the next meeting at Audi or BMW might be. It is beautifully built, enormously fast, surprisingly engaging to drive and capable of swallowing huge distances thanks to its big battery and absurdly quick charging.

More importantly, it feels like a genuinely premium product rather than a compromised cheaper alternative. There is enormous rear legroom, plenty of equipment and a sense of solidity throughout the cabin that some far more expensive cars struggle to match.

2026 Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD review

Sure, the ride is firmer than expected, the trunk is disappointingly small for a wagon and Zeekr’s determination to hide nearly everything inside the touchscreen quickly becomes exhausting. The intrusive driver assists and questionable self-parking hardly help either.

But those flaws are minor once you look at the complete package. The 7GT is not trying to reinvent the premium electric wagon. It simply does almost everything the established players do, occasionally better. The badge may still be unfamiliar, but the car certainly knows what it's doing.
