BYD only launched the Seal 07 EV back in March, but the company is already replacing it. Today, the second-generation Seal 07 went official in China, and the all-electric version is cheaper, quicker, and has a longer range than the car it succeeds.
The Seal 07 comes in three trims, priced at CNY 149,900 (about $22,300), CNY 159,900 ($23,800), and CNY 172,900 ($25,700), respectively. The starting price is CNY 20,000 ($3,000) lower than its predecessor's, and BYD is taking a further CNY 4,000 ($600) off each trim for buyers who trade in a car.
All three trims share the same powertrain with a single rear-mounted motor developing 245 kW (329 hp) and 365 Nm of torque, fed by a 76.7 kWh second-gen Blade Battery that supports flash charging. That gives it 482 miles of CLTC range, 43 miles more than before, a 0 to 62 mph time of 5.5 seconds (one second quicker), and a 149 mph top speed. Interestingly, the 300 kW long-range version that showed up in regulatory filings is nowhere to be found, at least for now.
The new car is also bigger, as those filings revealed. It's 200 inches long, 77.2 inches wide, and 58.9 inches tall, with a 116.5 inches wheelbase. That makes it 3.35 inches longer and 1.97 inches wider than its predecessor, and its wheelbase has grown by 2.36 inches. Storage consists of a 21.8 ft³ trunk and a 5.7 ft³ frunk, and a heat pump is standard.
The lower price does show in the driver-assistance department. The base trim makes do with conventional cruise control, while the two pricier ones get God's Eye C with highway navigation assistance as standard. If you want the roof-mounted LiDAR and city navigation assistance of God's Eye B, you'll have to pay extra for it. Every trim has double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, with DiSus-C damping control on the cheaper two and the magnetorheological DiSus-M system on the flagship.
The quick refresh comes as BYD's Seal lineup is struggling. It sold 46,834 vehicles in October, down 19.32% year-on-year, and 351,557 units in the first ten months of 2026, down 14.85%. Those numbers cover several Seal models, not just the Seal 07, but still, the trend is pretty clear. Whether the new Seal 07 will help turn it around remains to be seen.
