Polestar

Waiting for an EV to charge can seriously test anyone's patience. Sure, the public chargers keep getting faster, but the question of what to do for those 20 or 30 minutes is on everyone's mind. Some people scroll through their phones, some go through emails, and some catch up on that well-deserved nap.

Polestar claims to have found a solution by turning that downtime into game time. The company has teamed up with the wildly popular online geography game GeoGuessr to create a unique version just for its vehicles.

The new game, called the GeoGuessr Polestar Edition, presents players with a challenge familiar to its millions of fans. You are dropped somewhere in the world - in this case, on one of Europe's most scenic driving roads - and you have to pinpoint your location on a map using only visual clues.

But Polestar added a specific twist to connect the game directly to its electric cars. A digital rear-view mirror, inspired by the one in the new Polestar 4, is displayed at the top of the screen, showing the world in reverse. This clever feature adds a new layer of difficulty and offers a challenge for even the most seasoned digital traveler.

This collaboration is a strategic partnership between two Swedish brands. Polestar wants to push the boundaries of what an electric car can be, focusing on technology and user experience. GeoGuessr, for its part, turns digital map data into an adventure of exploration.

Daniel Antell, the CEO and co-founder of GeoGuessr, noted that both companies share a passion for exploration. For Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller, the partnership is about making the in-car experience better, especially during those unavoidable charging stops.

To celebrate the launch, the two companies are hosting a competition across Europe. The contest runs alongside the 2025 GeoGuessr World Championship Finals in Copenhagen, adding a layer of excitement for geography buffs.

The grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Polestar's headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. The prize also includes a day at a test track with a professional racing driver, offering a real-world driving experience to complement the virtual one.

The game is designed with Polestar drivers in mind, but it isn't exclusive to them. Anyone can play the GeoGuessr Polestar Edition on a mobile phone or a desktop computer. For Polestar owners, the game is available directly through the vehicle's built-in web browser, making it a seamless part of the car's infotainment system.

Polestar currently sells its vehicles in 28 markets across North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. Its lineup includes the Polestar 2 sedan, the Polestar 3 SUV, and the recently launched Polestar 4 SUV coupe. The brand has three more models - the Polestar 5, 6, and 7 - in the pipeline.
