Polestar Announcement

When it comes to drawing inspiration from dreams, Polestar has raised the bar. Their recent unveiling, the Synergy electric supercar, showcased at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, stands as a testament to the creative prowess of its designers. The supercar isn't just another high-speed wonder. Instead, it's a unique amalgamation of three outstanding designs from the recent Polestar Design Contest.

Over 600 budding designers set out to mold a Polestar creation that not only emphasizes performance but tells an intricate technical tale rooted in sustainability. The judging panel had the arduous task of selecting three winners from this eclectic mix: two for the exterior and one for the interior.

Enter Devashish Deshmukh and Swapnil Desai of Paris, who lent their vision for the car's exterior. Deshmukh took a cue from the aquatic realm, with his design inspired by the hammerhead sharks. Desai, on the other hand, leaned into a theme of lasting emotional impact – he opted for technical enhancements and materials that don't just last but age with elegance. Inside, China's Yingxiang Li introduced a concept where the driver doesn't just sit; they float. The solo seating is tailored for performance, offering a blend of relaxation and control.

Aesthetically, Synergy is nothing short of an eyeful. At a length of 179.5 inches and standing 42.1 inches tall, it brings forth proportions that draw second glances and details that scream innovation. While Polestar has never been a slouch in the design department, the Synergy seems to be in a league of its own.

One might wonder what’s next for this model marvel. For those in the US, you're in luck. Following its European debut, the Synergy will cruise over to the Hot Wheels Legends Tour in El Segundo, California, kicking off on October 7, 2023. The model will later grace various Polestar locations nationwide.

Maximillian Missoni, the mind overseeing designs at Polestar, pointed out the rarity of this scenario. For budding designers, especially students, to garner this level of attention so early in their careers is not the norm. The brand's Instagram community, which thrives on design dialogues, has taken this unique collaboration a notch higher.

Polestar has another ace up its sleeve. In a somewhat delightful twist, the brand is joining hands with Mattel's iconic toy line, Hot Wheels. This alliance isn't just about recreating cars in miniature forms, although that will happen. The upcoming Polestar Design Contest will revolve around the rich 55-year history of Hot Wheels. The synergy (pun intended) between these brands might just yield the next big design.
