Rimac Nevera EPA

The $2.1 million electric hypercar Rimac Nevera is officially ready to hit the road. The car has just received its CARB and EPA certifications, which make it road legal in the US. The 1,472 kW (1,974 hp) all-wheel drive tarmac-eating monster reaches , 258 mph, but is actually a tree-hugging softie with EPA range of 287.28 miles (462.33km). The WLTP cycle gives it even higher range - 340 miles or 547km.

Already the Production Car #002 is undergoing its final road tests before the customers get the long awaited delivery. There will be only 150 Neveras built with only a small portion of them headed to the US. We can expect first photos of the production cars #001 and #002 within the next few weeks.

Rimac Nevera is a testament of technology that we have at our disposal right now. The power figures on their own are impressive, but it’s the stuff that is happening under the skin of the car that is truly revolutionary. Putting down nearly 2,000 hp in a polite manner is an achievement of its own.

This car can be driven just like any other EV as long as you forget its price tag. The individual wheel torque vectoring system makes it as stable as a Prius. The facial recognition system won’t let your mom take it grocery shopping. Perfect car!

But when you stomp on the go pedal this sheepish, quiet EV will try to hurt you. We can only imagine how brutal the acceleration is and how the car handles - we all have seen the photos from the extensive winter testing in Sweden. We got the message.

Rimac Nevera turns any road into fun Rimac Nevera turns any road into fun

It’s fun to drive in any conditions with the car being able to adjust its performance to match the driver’s mood. And how about a personal AI driving coach that can help you eke out every bit of performance and hone the track driving skills with what Rimac calls “precise visual guidance”? It’s a real life Gran Turismo with a €2m price tag.

It is an aspirational piece of automotive art and it is priced like one. It will be a rare sight and it will offer life and perception changing performance to those who will be lucky enough to grab a passenger ride. Those who will end up driving one will never be the same.
