Rivian delays one of its R1T and R1S configurations, introduces new features

Rivian

Pre-orders for the Rivian R1T and the R1S SUV are already under way, but some of the customers received a rather disappointing email saying that the so-called Ocean Coast interior is being delayed due to issues with its manufacturing.

As a result, the company will prioritize other trims to streamline production. The actual shipments will begin this fall so anyone wanting its R1T or R1S sooner can change their order.

As of now, Rivian will be focusing on delivering the Launch Edition and the Adventure Package iterations equipped with the Black Mountain and Forest Edge interiors on time. In fact, the Adventure Package trim might come earlier than expected.

There are some good news, too, as the EV maker announced three new software features that should arrive via an OTA update. One of them is the so-called Sand mode showcased by Rivian's CEO, RJ Scarings on Twitter.

In addition to the Sand mode, the update brings Pet mode and Dashcam. The latter is pretty self-explanatory as it keeps the cameras running and recording while driving, while Pet mode keeps the AC on while parked with your dog inside the vehicle.
