Aston Martin

Plans for an Aston Martin EV keep getting pushed back – recent reports say fans will have to wait until 2030! – but the company has other projects in the pipeline. Like a smartphone, for example. Okay, it’s actually the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team and the phone itself will be made by a Chinese brand.

This info comes from Ice Universe, who is keeping mum on just which brand that is. Here is the phone in question, obscured in the dark:

There have been plenty of Aston Martin-branded phones in the past from makers such as Nokia, Acer and more recently the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 Aston Martin Racing limited edition. There have been some weird concept devices too, like this transparent phone.

So, which brand struck a deal with Aston Martin F1? Well, it’s probably not vivo – they are BMW fans. Honor works with Porsche Design. There have been Lamborghini editions from Oppo and Xiaomi’s Redmi division. So, probably not one of those.

Here’s an educated guess – Geely became the third largest shareholder in Aston Martin in 2023. And Geely owns Meizu. Meizu recently started work on a Lynk & Co phone, another car brand with major Geely participation.

I hope I will finish my studies and save money to buy a sportscar before they turn ugly and electric.
