Onvo

The electric car market in China just got a little bit busier with the official unveiling of the Onvo L90 at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. This large, all-electric three-row SUV is the second vehicle from Nio's new Onvo brand, and it promises a blend of sophisticated design and impressive practicality. Built on Nio's advanced NT3.0 platform, the L90 distinguishes itself from its sibling, the sportier L60, with a more stately and commanding presence.

The L90 adopts a more squared-off and robust aesthetic, conveying a sense of stability while clearly sharing the Onvo family's design language. The front of the vehicle features a distinctive "shark nose" that subtly juts forward, a design cue familiar to Nio's vehicles. The L90 incorporates a "Star Path Illumination" pixel headlight system. This interactive lighting feature allows for customized light patterns and even includes a welcoming sequence.

One of the most talked-about features of the Onvo L90 is its exceptionally large front trunk, or "frunk." With a generous 8.5 ft³ of storage space, accessible with a simple double-tap on the hood, it's spacious enough to accommodate a lot of luggage. Onvo's head of product, Eric Yu, claims this frunk is the largest currently available on any model in China. To put this into perspective, the company states that the three-row SUV can comfortably hold seven standard 20-inch suitcases in the rear trunk when six people are seated, with the frunk adding space for two more 20-inch suitcases plus a smaller one.

The side profile of the L90 is clean, with flowing lines complemented by frameless doors and hidden door handles, all contributing to its premium feel. Titanium-colored trim accents and hidden B and C pillars enhance its executive appearance. In terms of dimensions, the Onvo L90 measures 202.6 inches in length, 78.7 inches in width, and either 66 inches or 70.3 inches in height, depending on the configuration. It has a long wheelbase of 122.4 inches, resulting in an impressive wheelbase-to-length ratio of 60.4%, which translates to a more spacious interior.

Underneath its stylish exterior, the Onvo L90 is powered by a high-performance 900V electrical system, a key feature of Nio's NT3.0 platform. The rear-wheel-drive version features a motor producing 340 kW (equivalent to 455 horsepower). The all-wheel-drive variant delivers a combined output of 440 kW, or approximately 590 horsepower. The motors themselves are produced by XPT, Nio's dedicated motor division.

To ensure a comfortable and refined ride, the Onvo L90 comes with a sophisticated air suspension system - a double-wishbone independent front and a multi-link independent rear are standard.

Like the first Onvo model, the L60, the L90 offers battery options using both lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and lithium ternary cells. These batteries are supplied by prominent manufacturers such as BYD, CATL, and CALB. The new SUV will come standard with a larger 85 kWh battery pack, differing from the L60's standard 60 kWh battery.

Earlier at the Shanghai Auto Show, Nio's founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, also mentioned that Onvo's third model, the L80, will launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

When you add a link to a model name in the article, could you just really link to the datasheet, instead of another article? There is no direct way to access the facts from an article - that is annoying and not practical at all.
