Tesla

Hot on the heels of Tesla launching the new Model Y Performance in the US, which is the most expensive version, comes a leak of the upcoming Model Y Standard, which will be the cheapest.

The leak purportedly comes from code spotted on Tesla's own website. This has confirmed the long-rumored cheaper Model Y's name, and revealed its most important specs.

It will start at $39,990 in the US. It comes with a lower-cost, redesigned front (no more 'light bar' as you can see), a front bumper camera, no glass roof, new 18" Aperture wheels, a basic interior, a manually adjustable steering wheel, textile decor, a 15.4" touchscreen, no touchscreen in the second row, manually adjustable second row air vents, no HEPA filter, and 75 ft³ cargo space, which is 1 ft³ less than the other Model Y versions for some reason.

With all of these removals, you're getting a car that's going to be $5,000 cheaper than the cheapest option now, which is the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, starting at $44,990. Whether it's a fair deal is up to you of course - provided that this leak is accurate.
