XPeng Announcement

Automakers are always looking for ways to offer more features for less money, and XPeng just made a big move - they launched the updated 2026 XPeng P7+. The company says this is a global model and it will make its way to international roads, including Europe, very soon. The most surprising part is the price tag. The starting price is RMB 186,800, which converts to about $26,700. For a car of this size and tech level, that is an aggressive entry into the market.

This refreshed XPeng P7+ is still a liftback. It is a big vehicle at 199.6 inches in length, the width is 76.3 inches, and the height is 59.5 inches. XPeng stretched the car by 0.59 inches compared to the older version, but they did this only by reshaping the bumpers. The wheelbase sits at the same 118 inches - that means extra legroom for passengers. The car rides on large 20-inch wheels. The front of the car has a single LED light strip running across the nose and uses chrome trim to look more premium.

Inside the cabin, XPeng added a lot of luxury features. The company lists 104 total upgrades for this 2026 model. The dashboard uses wood trim and chrome accents. At night, drivers can pick from 256 colors for the ambient lighting. Small details get a lot of attention here. The glove box does not have a handle; it opens with a button. The air vents are hidden from sight to keep the design clean. For phone charging, there is a wireless pad covered in faux suede.

Technology is a huge part of modern EVs, and the P7+ is packed with it. The driver looks at an 8.8-inch screen behind the steering wheel. But they might not need to look down often. The car has a massive 29-inch Augmented Reality HUD which projects speed and navigation info right onto the windshield. The car also runs a new system called AIOS 6.0, which features new animations and a "Driving Light" design.

The computer brains in this car are very powerful. The standard model uses two Nvidia Drive Orin chips. These chips provide 508 TOPS of computing power for the driver assistance systems. But XPeng offers even smarter options. For an extra RMB 12,000 ($1,715), buyers can get the Ultra SE version. This uses XPeng's own Turing AI chips.

If that's not powerful enough, for RMB 20,000 ($2,860), there is an Ultra ADAS system with three Turing AI chips. These systems support Vision Language Action - it helps the AI see the road, understand what is happening, and make decisions.

Drivers have two main choices for power. First, there is the completely new EREV version. It uses a 49.2 kWh battery and a 1.5-liter turbo gas engine. The gas engine does not drive the wheels - it only acts as a generator to charge the battery. The electric motor delivers 180 kW (241 hp). On battery power alone, the new P7+ can travel up to 267 miles. But with a full gas tank, the mixed range hits a massive 963 miles. It charges incredibly fast, too, with the 5C charging tech adding as much as 172 miles of range in just five minutes.

There is the pure EV version, which leaves out the gas engine entirely. It comes with two battery options: 61.7 kWh or 74.9 kWh. The range for the electric version goes up to 450 miles under CLTC testing conditions. Buyers can choose a base motor with 180 kW (241 hp) or a stronger one with 230 kW (308 hp). With prices topping out at just RMB 198,800 ($28,410), the 2026 Xpeng P7+ offers a lot of variety and tech for a budget-friendly price. You can read our review of the updated P7+ right here.
