Nio Firefly Announcement

Over the weekend Nio held its Nio Day 2024 event, where, as expected, it officially unveiled its third and most affordable brand - Firefly.

Firefly's first car is also simply called Firefly, and you can see it in the images peppered throughout this article. Firefly pre-sales have already started, with CNY 148,800 ($20,400) pricing, though it's unclear if this includes the battery or not, as Firefly will have its own battery swapping stations throughout China.

The car will become available in April. Nio founder and CEO William Li said the Firefly is smaller than a Smart and smarter than a Mini. The Firefly is built to adhere to the latest five-star safety ratings in both China and Europe, where it will be launching next.

While Nio didn't release dimensions for the Firefly, or any other specs really, it did say that its turning radius is a mere 15.4 ft, its frunk capacity is 3.25 ft³, and its trunk capacity is 44.1 ft³ with the rear seats folded.

It does look like interesting. The most important thing is the car doesn't cost fortune, looks nice and has all necessary features - not all latest and unique features that make no sense and only lift the price up.

Why the need to make it so ugly, though?
