Uber and Pony AI to deploy robotaxis across Europe

Uber and Pony AI formed a partnership back in May 2025, and now their collaboration is moving forward with plans to deploy robotaxis in five European cities. The plan is to release more than 2,000 vehicles.

The first city on the list is Zagreb, Croatia, while the other four cities will be announced in phases once they get a permit to operate robotaxis. However, Uber didn't say when to expect the service in Zagreb, but assured that the robotaxi service will "soon" appear in the Uber app.

Pony AI will provide the L4 autonomous driving technology and other rider-experience expertise since the company has been operating in China for a while now. Uber, on the other hand, already has large-scale fleets across Europe and has established its platform that handles bookings, payments, customer service, etc., so it makes sense.

Interestingly, Uber has also recently partnered with Wayve to launch a robotaxi service in London, while competitors are working on bringing autonomous taxi services in Denmark and Germany.
