The iconic Volkswagen bus was once a symbol of affordable travel and freedom. When the German automaker first announced the ID. Buzz, fans expected a modern, electric version of that classic spirit. Unfortunately, the journey for the new electric Buzz has just hit a major speed bump as Volkswagen confirmed that it will not make a 2026 model of the ID. Buzz for the US market.

The trouble started when some car dealers began telling customers the ID. Buzz was being discontinued entirely. According to reports from buyers, some sales staff claimed that current inventory would be the last chance to own one. While car salespeople sometimes use these tactics to pressure people into buying, the rumors forced the company to speak up. A spokesperson for the brand explained that the decision to skip the 2026 model year was a strategic move based on the current market for EVs.

This high price makes it difficult for families to justify the Buzz over other electric cars - the price tag is simply too heavy for most budgets.

Volkswagen is trying to stay positive about the future of the vehicle. The company says the ID. Buzz is still an important "halo" product that shows off what the brand can do. Instead of building new ones for 2026, the company wants dealers to focus on selling the 2025 models they already have on their lots. They are calling this a "transition" period. The goal is to clear out old stock before potentially bringing the van back for the 2027 model year.
