Renault

Waze is now a downloadable, independent app that can run on a car's infotainment screen, no phone required. Vehicles that come with Google built-in will get the app directly and it's first to roll out to Renault's Austral Hybrid and the Megane E-Tech.

The Waze app will have its usual, full functionality like real-time routing, navigation and alerts, settings, preferences and saved places, built into the car's display.

The Waze app for OpenR link will be available for download either from the Google Play store or My Renault mobile app on a user's phone or through the Renault vehicle's infotainment system.

And, Waze says that it will bring the standalone app to other users and brands in 2023. Naturally, Waze is still available for Android Auto and Apple Car Play systems as well.
