Wuling

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is a very popular Mini EV in China, owing to its pricing and compact size. And now to further broaden its appeal it's getting a four-door version.

The Hongguang Mini EV has been a runaway success since its initial release in July 2020. Its low price point and small footprint made it a hit with Chinese consumers, resulting in over 1.5 million units sold. This new four-door variant builds on that success, offering more room without sacrificing the characteristics that made the original so popular.

The four-door Mini EV comes in three different versions, with prices ranging from RMB 44,800 ($6,180) to RMB 50,800 ($7,000). The existing two-door version continues to be available, priced between RMB 35,800 ($4,950) and RMB 46,800 ($6,450).

One of the key differences between the four-door and two-door models is, naturally, size. The four-door Mini EV measures 128.2 inches in length, 59.4 inches in width, and 62.1 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 86.2 inches. This compares to the two-door version's dimensions of 120.6 inches long, 58.8 inches wide, and 63.5 inches tall, with a 79.1 inches wheelbase. The added length and wheelbase of the four-door model translate directly into more interior space for passengers and cargo.

The four-door Mini EV uses a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a capacity of 16.2 kWh. This battery provides a CLTC (China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle) range of 127 miles for all three four-door variants. With DC fast charging on board, the battery can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 35 minutes. The electric motor delivers a peak power of 30 kW, enabling the car to reach a top speed of 62 mph. The car itself weighs in at 1,720 lb.

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is built on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) architecture, which also underpins other small EVs from SAIC-GM-Wuling, including the KiWi EV, Nano EV, and Air EV. The launch of the four-door Mini EV is a big step for Wuling, and the added practicality of the four doors, combined with the Mini EV's already established affordability, should make it another best seller.

They increased its length a bit, but its still too small for a Kei car and back seat passengers. Should atleast be 3.4m in length like Nissan Sakura. Add swappable Evogo sodium battery, would make things more fun.
