Apple AI

Apple released iOS 26.4 last week, and it brought with it support for third-party AI chatbots in CarPlay. The providers of said chatbots did need to update their apps to support this new functionality, and this now seems to be the case, at least with ChatGPT (other chatbots may work too, and if they don't right now, they surely will very soon).

So if you've always wanted to have a conversation with ChatGPT in your car via CarPlay, now is the time. Since safety while driving is important, you can't have text conversations with ChatGPT in your car, only voice ones.

There are on-screen buttons to mute and end the conversation, but that's not worse than having your entire car's controls on a touchscreen, right? A list of recent conversations is also available if you want to jump right back in. You can't use a wake word to initiate a conversation with ChatGPT, you have to tap on the app to open it and you go from there.

Great idea for those that struggle with simple tasks and are clearly clueless.

You don't "have to" install or interact with this application. But I suppose you also don't "have to" appreciate that a wife and kids are an enviable "distraction" to have

Like wife or kids dont distract enough from driving now we need to argue even with chatGPT. How disgusting is that.
