Zeekr Announcement

Zeekr, the electric vehicle manufacturer backed by Geely, just officially pulled back the curtain on its latest offering, the Zeekr 7X SUV. This new model, aimed at the family car market, made its debut at the Chengdu auto show and is set to hit Chinese roads by the end of September, with global deliveries expected sometime next year.

The Zeekr 7X is available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. All versions feature a 310 kW silicon carbide electric motor on the rear axle, while dual-motor models add a 165 kW motor to the front axle, enabling the 7X a brisk 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds.

The SUV is built on an 800 V high-voltage platform and two battery options are available: a 75 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery with a CLTC range of 376 miles and a 100 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery pack extending the range to 485 miles. Zeekr claims its LFP battery offers the world's fastest charging, going from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes.

The 7X is positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, with a pre-sale price starting at RMB 239,000 yuan ($33,680). Built on Geely's SEA platform, the 7X is a midsize SUV measuring 190 inches in length, 76 inches in width, and 65.2 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 115.2 inches. Despite being slightly smaller than some rivals like the Nio ES6 and Xpeng G9, Zeekr claims the 7X offers the most spacious cabin in its class.

The SUV's design language is dubbed "Hidden Energy," and features a flowing front end with the Zeekr Stargate interactive LCD , which is capable of projecting messages and images.

The 7X's interior feature a floating infotainment screen, an LCD instrument panel, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip powering it all. Rear passengers enjoy airline-style tray tables, and higher-spec models even get rear entertainment screens and heated/ventilated seats. Dual Nvidia Orin-X SoCs, LiDAR, HD cameras, and mmWave radars are present for the ADAS features.

The interior is offering 32 storage compartments and a generous 21.8 ft³ trunk.

This is Zeekr's second model targeted at the mainstream EV market, following the Zeekr 001 electric sedan launched in December 2023. The company's other models, including the Zeekr 009 and Zeekr X, are aimed at more niche segments. With its competitive pricing, spacious interior, advanced technology, and impressive performance, the Zeekr 7X is pretty much guaranteed to make a significant impact in the rapidly growing electric SUV market, both in China and globally.
