Hyundai

Hyundai is expected to announce its budget-oriented EV, the Ioniq 2, next month and the model now stars in a video captured near Hyundai's tech center in Germany.

The Ioniq 2 is going to be a smaller Ioniq 5 sibling and sit between the Inster EV and the Kona Electric. A strong indication that Hyundai is doubling down on more affordable EVs to boost growth.

The camo doesn't allow us to see much of the vehicle, but judging by the shape, it will likely resemble the Kia EV2, which has a taller, almost SUV-like profile. The rest of the design elements will likely be inspired by the Ioniq 6.

Structurally, the Ioniq 2 is expected to share most of its parts, including the E-GMP platform, with Kia's upcoming EV2.

We will stop guessing once we see the Ioniq 2 in full. Hyundai should unveil its new model next month during the annual Munich Motor Show with sales beginning in mid-2026.
