BMW

BMW has announced a very important milestone today, namely that it's managed to sell over one million fully-electric vehicles so far. The group delivered 82,700 fully-electric BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce cars to customers in the first three months of this year, which represents a 27.9% increase compared to the same period last year.

The sales performance was "balanced" across all major regions of the world, BMW notes. With those 82,700 EVs, it got over the one million point in terms of all-time EV sales. The BMW i4, iX3, iX1, iX, and i7 were "particularly in demand", and the new i5 is apparently "proving especially popular".

The company plans to "continue its consistent ramp up of electromobility in 2024 with attractive product offerings, despite a volatile market environment". BMW expects EVs to be "among the main growth drivers in 2024", forecasting double-digit growth of sales for the full year.

Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales, said:

The BMW Group is continuing on its BEV growth path. With the delivery of its one-millionth fully-electric vehicle since the market launch of the BMW i3, we have reached an important milestone that confirms the attractiveness of our product portfolio. By providing a choice of drive train technologies and thanks to our high level of flexibility, the BMW Group is well-positioned to meet changing customer requirements. This strategy is now proving particularly effective in a dynamic market environment.

Almost 10% of the sales coming from the most recent quarter alone is just sad. They could've started selling EVs in 2021 and gotten to the same total with that rate. This should've been achieved years ago.
