The BMW iX electric SUV got a new version with some significant updates. BMW sharpened the iX's design, improved its performance, and introduced a new base model that lowers the entry price.
The new iX lineup features three trims: the xDrive45, xDrive60, and the top-tier M70 xDrive. The big news is the addition of the xDrive45 trim to the US lineup, where it starts at $76,325. This is a substantial drop from the previous base price of $88,245. The xDrive60 and M70 xDrive models come in at $89,675 and $112,675, respectively.
There are some notable changes in the powertrain department. The new xDrive45 gets a 408-horsepower dual-motor setup, helping the SUV to get from 0 to 62 mph in a respectable 5.1 seconds. Stepping up to the xDrive60 gets you 544 horsepower, while the range-topping M70 xDrive has a hefty 659 horsepower.
Model | Power | WLTP Range | 0-62 mph | US Price |
---|---|---|---|---|
iX xDrive45 | 408 hp (300 kW) | 374 miles | 5.1 s | $76,325 |
iX xDrive60 | 544 hp (400 kW) | 436 miles | 4.6 s | $89,675 |
iX xDrive70 | 659 hp (485 kW) | 373 miles | 3.8 s | $112,675 |
BMW has also focused on efficiency, squeezing more range out of the iX. The xDrive45 is estimated to deliver 312 miles on a single charge, thanks to its 100.1 kWh usable battery capacity. The xDrive60 offers an even longer range of 340 miles with its 113.4 kWh battery. Even the high-performance M70 xDrive, with its 112.8 kWh battery, manages an estimated 302 miles. This increased efficiency is a result of a redesigned drivetrain, the use of silicon carbide semiconductors, and a new generation of batteries.
Visually, the iX receives a subtle but much-needed refresh with a simplified front grille and headlights with a vertical design. The rear of the M70 xDrive (and models equipped with the M Sport Package) gets a new integrated diffuser. Inside, the most notable change is the round steering wheel - BMW seems to have finally listened to its customers. The M Sport Package adds M-branded sport seats, an M leather steering wheel, M pedals, and a two-tone instrument panel.
The BMW iX appears to be a compelling package, offering a more accessible entry point, increased range, enhanced performance, and a less polarizing design. With production set to begin in March and deliveries planned for the second quarter of 2025, the iX looks like a much better choice the second time around.

lol hopefully china made you some good money like they did me. i asked some friends from nus/singapore about that paper and gambled my life savings.
The front end "nose" needs to be updated and you lost me completely with the pink interior. As a former BMW driver, very disappointing and the price tag... go China!
