German auto giant BMW announced a partnership with Indian Tata Technologies today. Together, they'll open a development center focused on electric vehicle software.

BMW already has similar setups in places like China and Portugal. However, this new Indian venture is significant because it taps into India's rich pool of software engineering talent.

This is exciting news for BMW and the Indian tech industry. BMW leverages India's software talent to stay ahead of the curve, and India's engineers get the chance to work on some of the world's most advanced automotive software projects.

The joint venture starts with 100 seasoned professionals from Tata Technologies and is expected to grow to a workforce of over a thousand engineers within the next few years. It will specifically focus on automating in-vehicle functions and areas like product development, production, and sales. As BMW revs up its software ambitions, this partnership looks set to supercharge the future of its electric cars.
