Rimac

Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac is always up to something new. The man behind the groundbreaking Nevera electric hypercar has been teasing a top-secret project on social media, promising a revolution in urban transportation. Now, after years of speculation, we're finally getting a glimpse of Rimac's next big move: a self-driving "robotaxi" hatchback designed exclusively for city living.

Rimac dropped a few intriguing hints along with a shadowy silhouette in a recent Facebook post. Most notably, the portrait of famed sci-fi author Jules Verne suggests a design that leans heavily toward the future. Will the robotaxi boast a sleek, otherworldly appearance? The world will know for sure on June 26, the official reveal date.

One thing the robotaxi won't be is a Bugatti-Rimac supercar. As Rimac confirms, this vehicle will wear a unique "Project 3 Mobility" badge, separating it entirely from the Nevera lineage. However, ambition still drives the project. Despite numerous tech setbacks for other self-driving car ventures, Rimac seems confident that his robotaxi is ready to take on the world in 2024.

This isn't just a fleeting experiment; Rimac's robotaxi has backing from automotive giant Kia, implying a well-funded and long-term strategy. It's a smart partnership – Kia brings mass-market knowledge and manufacturing expertise, while Rimac infuses bleeding-edge tech and design flair.

Will the June 26 reveal be a fully functional vehicle or just a concept? And what level of self-driving capability can we expect? With Rimac's history of pushing boundaries, we're likely in for a few surprises. Though an SUV is ruled out, this hatchback could still take a radical design turn. Rimac also hints at a 2026 launch in Croatia's capital, Zagreb. It might be a few years off, but this robotaxi could truly change how we think about city travel.
