Fang Cheng Bao BYD

Emerging from BYD's latest sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, the all-electric Bao 3 SUV is the latest arrival to the China EV market. As certification papers revealed most of its specs the company shared official images of the model.

The Bao 3 is available in three exterior colors – black, white, and green and we can't help but see some influence from Suzuki Vitara and Toyota Land Cruiser in its design, which is not a bad thing.

This five-seater packs a powerful punch, with dual electric motors delivering a combined maximum power of 310 kW (approximately 416 horsepower). This enables a top speed of 125 mph, making the Bao 3 one of the fastest electric SUVs on the Chinese market. According to the MIIT filing, the Bao 3 can accelerate to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds, despite its 4,740 lb curb weight.

The Bao 3 is 181.3 inches long, 74.8 inches wide, and 67.7 inches tall and features a wheelbase of 108.1 inches. That makes it 5.9 inches shorter than the Tesla Model Y, and 8.1 inches longer than the Smart #3.

The Bao 3 is powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by BYD's battery division, FinDreams Battery but the exact battery capacity has not yet been disclosed.

Fang Cheng Bao should soon announce an official launch date for the Bao 3 - the unveiling of its official images and the MIIT certification suggest that the launch could be imminent.
