Cadillac Lyriq-V will be the first-ever electric V-Series

Cadillac

Cadillac is taking the next step into the electric future with the upcoming Lyriq-V. Set to launch early next year, the high-performance variant of the Lyriq SUV will be the first EV by the company worthy of the V series.

Цadillac is ready to challenge established players like BMW and Tesla in the performance EV market. The Lyriq-V will be available in both left- and right-hand drive configurations, and initially, it will be available in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, with other markets to follow later in 2025.

While the exterior design of the Lyriq-V shares similarities with its standard counterpart, there are noticeable differences that hint at its performance potential. A more aggressive front bumper, color-coded body kit, and prominent V badges on the grille, rear, and sides distinguish the Lyriq-V. Large multi-spoke alloy wheels house huge Brembo brake calipers, offering serious stopping power. The vehicle also appears to sit lower to the ground, suggesting a sport-tuned suspension.

Inside, the Lyriq-V features a "V button" on the steering wheel, allowing the driver to engage the performance driving mode. Although Cadillac has not yet disclosed the specifics of this mode, it's expected to sharpen throttle response, stiffen the suspension, and potentially unlock additional power.

Cadillac has confirmed that the Lyriq-V will come standard with all-wheel drive and deliver "exceptional performance and competitive range." While exact figures are still under wraps, the standard all-wheel drive Lyriq comes with 500 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The Lyriq-V will surpass these figures, potentially exceeding the 600 hp mark. The Escalade IQ uses the same Ultium platform and comes with 750 hp, so it's not hard to imagine the smaller Lyriq borrowing some of the components from its bigger sibling.

The Lyriq-V will compete in a busy segment of high-performance electric SUVs. Key rivals include the BMW iX M60, Tesla Model X Plaid, and Audi e-tron S. Cadillac is betting that the Lyriq-V's combination of performance, luxury, and technology will make it a compelling choice for buyers looking for an electrifying driving experience.
