Volkswagen Audi

Cariad is a Volkswagen subsidiary company that provides software solutions to car manufacturers under the VW Group umbrella. TomTom, on the other hand, develops navigation systems and their most recent collaboration brings a navigation solution specifically designed for electric vehicles.

The new navigation system provides better routing by adjusting its algorithm to account for traffic, charging station availability, and real-time driving data, depending on the user's driving style.

The navigation will suggest appropriate charging stops depending on the remaining range throughout the journey. Since TomTom's navigation is cloud-based, the system will switch to the onboard software when a data connection isn't available.

Audi's future EVs will be the first cars to feature TomTom and Cariad's new navigation platform, followed by other brands under the VW umbrella.
