CATL

CATL is the leading battery manufacturer globally and also responsible for a lot of the innovation in the segment. In April, the company revealed a new condensed battery tech that could reach almost solid-state battery-level of energy density - 500 Wh/kg and earlier this month, CATL hinted at a new cell with exceptional charging performance in the cold. And that's what we suspect the August 16 event it just set will be all about.

CATL is hosting its first standalone offline event on August 16 at 3:00 PM Beijing time, suggesting it could be a big deal.

The company wasn't very detailed when announcing its new tech for cold-weather charging and only stated that it improves charging in -20°C by about 50% and by 43% in normal weather. So we expect to get the full details come August 16. And from what we could gather from the machine-translated Weibo post, it's going to be about speed. So, it checks out.
