ChargePoint is now deploying NACS compatible EV chargers to its network

ChargePoint Tesla

Following a slew of car makers, back in June ChargePoint announced that it would adopt Tesla's NACS connector as well for its North American charging stations, and today the rollout begins.

ChargePoint expects "much of the lineup" of AC and DC chargers with NACS support to be delivered over the coming month. Cable conversion kits for existing DC fast chargers will be delivered to its customers which operate the charging stations in November.

This means that Tesla owners in North America will for the first time have a public DC fast charging alternative to Tesla's own Supercharger network. ChargePoint has so far seen more than 35 million AC charging sessions initiated by Tesla vehicles, so the demand is clearly there.

ChargePoint is the first in the industry to ship a native DC connector that is compatible with Tesla vehicles. AC charging will be adapter-less for Tesla owners too at ChargePoint stations - in other words, much more convenient.

The company is also preparing to ship NACS-compatible cables for its popular Home Flex solution, which will be ready for installation in residential homes and garages later this month.
