Ford

Ford is in a celebratory mood today, as the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E has just been produced at its plant in Cuautitlán, Mexico.

The Mustang Mach-E was introduced back in 2019 and finally became available in late 2020. It's currently available in 37 countries, up from 22 initially, and Ford plans to add more markets next year. The company's target is to make 270,000 Mustang Mach-E units per year going forward, and a total of 600,000 EVs annually by the end of 2023, with that figure jumping to 2 million by 2026.

According to Ford, more than 80% of Mach-E buyers in the US and 90% of those in Europe have replaced an ICE vehicle with it. Ford is currently the No.2-selling EV brand in the US, and that's in large part thanks to the Mustang Mach-E.

Darren Palmer, vice president of EV programs at Ford Model e said: "When we put the pony on this Mustang, we knew we'd have skeptics. What we didn't quite know then was just how popular this car would become".

In order to increase production even further, Ford is upgrading the Cuautitlán plant with new lines for batteries, chassis manufacturing, as well as an additional assembly line and an extra paint shop.
