Germany doesn't want the EU to ban new internal combustion cars from 2035

Misc

The EU made news recently with its plans to ban the sale of new internal combustion engine (ICE) cars starting from 2035. The proposal was backed by EU Parliament members earlier this month, and the next step is negotiations with EU countries on the final law. Those haven't even started yet, and we have the first dissenter, which is Germany.

Germany doesn't agree with the EU banning new internal combustion cars from 2035

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said the country will not agree to the EU's plans. Speaking at an event hosted by Germany's BDI industry association, Lindner said there would continue to be niches for combustion engines so an outright ban was wrong. He added that the government he's part of would not agree to the European legislation as it is proposed right now, but Germany would still be a leading market for EVs. Let's see if other countries follow Germany's lead on this one.

Really? ICE is only for niches? So if I don't wanna wait ages to top up my car and want 400 miles range for affordable price, I'm considered niche? When did all these people around me suddenly turn so patient and rich and I'm only one ...

Finally a voice of reason, no need for any bans of ICE, just make EV appealing enough.
