HiPhi

The freshly unveiled HiPhi Y stakes its claim in the medium-sized SUV category, making it the third member of HiPhi's all-electric family. Set at a price range of $47,500 to $62,900, it aims to attract a broad swath of consumers looking for the perfect mix of functionality, style, and eco-friendliness.

The exterior of the HiPhi Y screams 'robust' without losing its elegance. It stretches 194.4 inches in length, 77.1 inches in width, and stands 65.3 inches tall, a significant presence on any road. Its 116.1 inches wheelbase paves the way for a roomy five-seater layout, subtly deviating from its predecessors' futuristic vibe while maintaining the brand's iconic wing doors. With straight lines down the sides, a sloping front hood, and elevated tail lights, the SUV presents a commanding yet calm demeanor, its low front and high rear profile radiating solidity.

The HiPhi Y isn't just a pretty face, though. It is loaded with a robust package of features. An assembly of eight airbags, 31 sensors, and a radar system provides enhanced safety measures. An electric door system offers easy access and automatic closure when the brake is applied. And if you're one to appreciate a tech-filled ride, you'll love the co-pilot screen, the head-up display, and the media-streaming rearview mirror.

The HiPhi Y offers impressive range and power options across its versions. The base model boasts a respectable electric range of 348 miles, featuring a single-motor rear-drive setup that generates a maximum power of 336 hp (247 kW) and peak torque of 302 lb-ft. Pay a little more, and you get the version offering an expanded electric range of 503 miles, with power and torque figures maintained. Go all out, and you'll find yourself behind the wheel of a dual-motor four-wheel-drive SUV that offers 475 miles of electric range, maximum power of 505 hp (371 kW), and peak torque of 457 lb-ft. As usual, a considerable dose of skepticism is well advised when it comes to EV driving range figures released by the Chinese CLTC.

The tech-savvy will be impressed by the HiPhi Y's advanced technological specifications. A Qualcomm 8155 central control screen processor allows for adjustable pitch angles, with a simple "HiPhi GO" voice command offering control over various vehicle features. Bluetooth handles, onboard Wi-Fi, a 6.4-liter warm and cold refrigerator, and an array of charging ports and docking stations transform the HiPhi Y into a mobile tech hub. Plus, for audiophiles, the vehicle has an optional 25-speaker setup providing a 7.1.4 audio system.

The HiPhi Y isn't just an electric SUV; it's a statement. A declaration of HiPhi's ambitions in the electric vehicle industry and a testament to its commitment to giving consumers value for their money. Yes, the road to a greener future might be long, but with offerings like the HiPhi Y, it's set to be an exciting journey. The HiPhi Y is coming to Europe, and it will be interesting to see if the company maintains aggressive pricing for this model or follows the sky-high prices of its bigger siblings that just went on sale on the Old Continent.
