Luxury electric vehicles are ever increasing in number, but what if you need more than just speed and range? What if you need protection? Enter US Armor Group, a company that transforms luxury cars into fortresses on wheels. Their latest creation is an armored version of the Lucid Air Sapphire, one of the fastest EVs on the market.

Lucid Air Sapphire gets bulletproof makeover

The Lucid Air Sapphire is a proper beast, boasting a tri-motor setup that delivers a staggering 1,234 horsepower. It can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. But US Armor Group has taken this performance beast and added a layer of security that is fit for a head of state.

The armored Lucid Air Sapphire features bulletproof glass, reinforced doors, and a 360-degree protective shield made from a military-grade composite material. This material is ten times stronger than ballistic steel yet five times lighter, ensuring the car retains its impressive performance despite the added weight of {{385 lbs}}. It can withstand a 0.44 magnum round, and customers can opt for even higher levels of protection against rifles, grenades, and explosives.

But physical protection is just one part of the equation. US Armor Group has also equipped the car with an undisclosed internet/WiFi security package to protect sensitive data from hackers. It also has scanners that can gather intelligence from many sources, including local police and fire stations, to keep occupants aware of potential threats on the road. A one-touch outreach feature instantly connects the occupants with US Armor Group for assistance.

And if things get really hairy, the armored Lucid Air Sapphire can be equipped with some James Bond-worthy gadgets, including electric-shock door handles, pepper spray dispensers, concealed gun ports, and poison gas protection/detection.

The armored Lucid Air Sapphire starts at a cool $475,000, and that's before you add any of the optional extras. Jeffrey Engen, founder and CEO of US Armor Group, says, "With the armored Air Sapphire, our company has taken one of the world's fastest production vehicles ever built and transformed it into the fastest armored car on the planet." He adds that the company's mission is to protect clients against any and all potential threats without sacrificing performance or amenities.
