Mahindra

Mahindra, the only Indian maker with a team in the high-speed world of Formula E electric car racing since 2014, just rolled out a special version of its BE6 electric SUV. The Mahindra BE6 Formula E Edition celebrates the company’s participation in the electric motorsport series, but instead of looking like a sleek race car, the special edition SUV has a tough, off-road appearance that makes it look ready for a desert rally, not a street circuit.

The design team at Mahindra went way beyond a simple sticker package. They gave the BE6 Formula E Edition some big body changes that really set it apart from the standard EV. Up front, the new bumper features round LED headlights. The designers also added a bold-looking skid plate and a lot of dark cladding around the vehicle, giving it a strong, almost armor-plated look. At the back, Mahindra also changed the bumper and added a twin spoiler. The clean rear design gets rid of the usual vertical LEDs for a smoother finish.

Inside the cabin, the racing theme is very clear - black materials with bright Firestorm Orange accents that stand out are everywhere. Special touches include seat belts with the FIA brand and a plaque that recognizes the Formula E series involvement. The dashboard even shows the Formula E logo, and the screens have a custom racing-inspired start-up animation. The vehicle comes packed with technology and comfort features, including a standard digital driver display, a full suite of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), a premium Harman Kardon sound system, and two wireless phone charging pads.

The Mahindra BE6 Formula E Edition is available in four colors: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black. The roof and pillars wear special racing graphics, and Formula E badges sit proudly on the front fenders. Customers can choose between 19-inch wheels and new, larger 20-inch alloy wheels. The top-of-the-line FE3 variant comes standard with an adaptive suspension system.

Underneath the racing graphics and bold styling, the BE6 keeps the same powerful setup as the high-end regular model. It uses a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a solid 210 kW (282 horsepower) and 280 lb-ft of torque. This power lets the SUV sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 126 mph. Powering all this is a large 79 kWh battery that promises a driving range of about 311 miles.

Mahindra offers this special edition in two versions, but only in India. The FE2 model starts at ₹23.69 lakh (about $26,500), and the fully-loaded FE3 costs ₹24.49 lakh (about $27,400). Orders for the BE6 Formula E Edition open on January 14, and the first deliveries will happen on February 14, 2026. For the youngest fans of Formula E, Mahindra even plans to release a small, electric Ride-On toy car version in April 2026 for ₹18,000 (about $200).
