Mercedes

Mercedes-AMG is hinting at a powerful new electric sedan set to debut this summer, aimed squarely at rivals like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. For now, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz remains tight-lipped on specifics, but their recent teaser suggests a sleek and stylish four-door model packed with cutting-edge electric technology.

The teaser image released by Mercedes-AMG offers glimpses of a striking sports car silhouette. A long, sculpted hood flows into a steeply raked windshield and a dynamic roofline that extends gracefully towards the rear. The car also appears to feature strong rear fender flares and a large glass area. This design language is quite a departure from some of Mercedes' recent electric vehicle designs and suggests a more performance-oriented aesthetic.

Although Mercedes-AMG hasn't officially confirmed the model, strong indications point towards a redesigned version of their GT 4-Door. Spy photos of heavily camouflaged prototypes have circulated previously, but the teaser suggests the final design will be more visually captivating than anticipated. Production will begin later this year, and the company has confirmed this new model will be built on their dedicated electric vehicle platform, known as AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA).

Technical details remain scarce, but the German automaker has revealed that this Porsche Taycan competitor will feature a high-performance battery and axial-flux motors. The Vision AMG concept car previously revealed some of the design and technology that could be incorporated into this new electric sedan. Rumors even suggest that the top-tier version will have an impressive output of around 746 kW (approximately 1,000 horsepower).

It will be behind cars that cost half of AMG in general. If you want to compare anything to Mercedes, anything else always wins in terms of pretty much any aspect of the vehicle. Mercedes is an easy target to beat.

It will be behind the Xiaomi Su7 Ultra and much more expensive.

Decent, reliable EV, that does not have a recall for fire hazards, would be even more appreciated when it comes to Mercedes and Porsche.
