MG

MG Motor has announced that its all-new MG4 Electric car will arrive in Europe in the fourth quarter of this year - so between October and December. MG Motor is owned by SAIC (previously known as Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation), and as such the MG4 will use SAIC's MSP (Modular Scalable Platform).

This enables a "particularly flat battery", which will be initially available with 51 kWh and 64 kWh capacity. The battery is just 11cm high, matching the one in the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric, and thus now sharing the world record with that model.

The bigger capacity battery is expected to enable up to 450 km (279 miles) WLTP range, while the smaller one will do 350 km (217 miles). Further versions of the MG4 are planned for the future, including an all-wheel drive.

The initially launching car will have a rear-wheel drive 150 kW / 201 hp / 203 PS motor paired with the 64 kWh battery, and a 125 kW / 167 hp / 169 PS motor paired with the 51 kWh battery. The former version will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62mph) in less than 8 seconds. The top speed for the MG4 will be 160 km/h (100 mph). The MG4 is 4.29m (168") long, 1.84m (72") wide, and 1.5m (59") tall.

More details about the MG4 should be released in the coming weeks and months, as we get closer to its launch.
