The much-anticipated Tesla Model Y L is now official in China, offering six seats instead of the standard five. The vehicle comes with a couple of cool new features, and it's technically the longest range from the entire Model Y lineup.
The Model Y L starts at RMB 339,000 ($47,180), making it slightly more expensive than the Model Y Long Range. It offers an 82 kWh battery supplied by LG Energy Solution, which is enough to earn the car a CLTC range of 467 miles, just one kilometer more than the Long Range five-seater Model Y.
When it comes to dimensions, the Model Y L is significantly longer and slightly higher than the standard Model Y and also has a longer wheelbase. The Model Y L dimensions are 195.9 inches x 75.6 inches x 65.7 inches (L x W x H), while the five-seater is 188.9 inches long, 75.6 inches wide and 63.9 inches high.
Additionally, the Model Y L boasts 2,539 liters of storage space, but that is with the seats folded. Actual trunk space isn't listed.
When it comes to the seat features, the second and third-row seats can be folded independently and are electrically controlled. The first and second rows have seat ventilation, while heating is available on all seats. The second row also gets electric armrests.
The audio system has also received some love with Tesla upgrading the sound system with 18 speakers and a subwoofer.
The Model Y L is going head-to-head with other six-seater SUVs in China such as Nio's ES8 and EL8, and Li Auto's Li L8.
Those who order now will receive their Model Y L in September.
Will be a massive hit regardless of Tesla haters... Solves a lot of problems for big families, and the range is not compromised...
