Android Auto will support casting soon, redesigned music player coming too

According to a new report, Google is working on bringing support for casting to Android Auto. Once this is live, you will be able to cast from a phone or tablet to your car.

Android Automotive does have casting support built-in, so it's good to see this also heading to Android Auto (Android Automotive is the OS that some car makers preinstall into their vehicles).

The functionality was spotted in Android Auto 15.9.655104, which is the latest beta release. This contains some strings of code related to Google Cast.

Also coming is a redesign of the Android Auto media player, with many more elements of Google's Material 3 Expressive language.

It's unclear when either of these improvements will actually arrive. We'll keep you posted.
