The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) shared the official details for the Xiaomi YU7 GT. This high-performance SUV is the latest addition to Xiaomi's fast-growing lineup of EVs and is the answer to the already ridiculous SU7 Ultra.
The Xiaomi YU7 GT is a sleek "coupe-SUV." The visual cues to its performance are very subtle, with only a few differences between the GT version and its less powerful siblings. To help the car drive itself safely, Xiaomi tucked a LiDAR sensor right into the roof. It also has hidden door handles that sit flush with the body.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT carries a massive battery pack that weighs 1,468 lb and has a capacity of {{101.7 kWh}}. Because the battery is so large, the official filings show a cruising range of 404 miles, though other versions might reach as far as 438 miles. We need to remember these are CLTC numbers - the real-life figures will be quite a bit lower.
But performance is where this vehicle really stands out. It has an all-wheel-drive system with two electric motors. The motor in the front produces 288 kW of power. The rear motor is even stronger, pumping out 450 kW. The total system power hits 738 kW - about 990 horsepower. That's way more power than many famous Italian supercars - in a family-oriented electric SUV from a company that started its life making affordable mobile phones.

Unsurprisingly, all that power makes the YU7 GT very fast. Xiaomi says the top speed is 186 mph. To handle that speed, the car sits on large sport wheels, and behind those wheels, you can see bright red brake calipers gripping huge brake discs. The YU7 GT needs those brakes to be this large since it tips the scales at 5,423 lb.
Size matters for an SUV, and the Xiaomi YU7 GT is a large vehicle. It measures 197.4 inches long and 79 inches wide. The height is 62.9 inches, which keeps it looking low and aggressive. Perhaps the most important number for passengers is the wheelbase, which is 118 inches. A long wheelbase usually means there is plenty of legroom inside for everyone to sit comfortably.

Xiaomi is offering many ways to customize the new Xiaomi YU7 GT. Buyers can choose different trim pieces for the lights, different side mirrors, and even different rear spoilers. If you want your car to look even sportier, you can add a "ducktail" spoiler or special decals to the body. You can even pick a different color for the brake calipers or the front emblem.
The back of the car looks just as modern as the front. A long taillight spans the width of the rear, with the XIAOMI and YU7 GT names clearly displayed. The bottom of the rear bumper has a diffuser design that looks like it belongs on a race car.
Xiaomi YU7 GT already spotted in China
While Xiaomi is still considered a newcomer to electric cars, this SUV shows they are serious about competing with the best brands in the world. We will see the official debut during the Beijing Auto Show next month, and we expect to have more details by then.
