Genesis is preparing to introduce its largest and most luxurious electric sport utility vehicle, the GV90. This upcoming three-row electric flagship was spotted by sharp-eyed car watchers in California, who even photographed its interior, and it seems Genesis is serious about making a statement.
In early 2024, Genesis unveiled its Neolun concept at the New York Auto Show. The company described the Neolun as its "ultra-luxe vision of luxury SUVs." That concept showcased an interior deeply influenced by Korean artistic traditions, including "Royal Indigo" cashmere and "Purple Silk" leather, all accented with rich, dark wood.
Thanks to new spy photos shared by The Korean Car Blog, we have a better idea of what the production Genesis GV90's cabin will look like. It appears some of the more distinctive elements from the Neolun concept are making the cut. The images reveal a color scheme that stays true to the concept's bold choices, with noticeable purple accents on the door panels, seating, and other interior components. While a full purple interior might not be for everyone, it certainly suggests Genesis isn't afraid to be different.
Apart from the brave color palette, the Genesis GV90 will be a technological showcase for the brand. It will use Hyundai Motor Group's latest advancements in software and in-car tech. The luxurious interior will feature a sizable 24-inch infotainment screen, serving as the hub for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings, all controllable via voice commands.
Sound quality is getting a serious upgrade with a new 3D audio system. This system will feature tweeters, midrange speakers, woofers, and subwoofers carefully placed throughout the cabin to create an immersive listening experience. In a unique design twist, the brand's signature Crystal Sphere gear selector, will reportedly also function as a high-fidelity tweeter.
Underpinning this new luxury electric SUV will be Hyundai's next-generation eM platform. This new architecture is about to replace the current E-GMP platform. The switch to the eM platform suggests improvements in efficiency, range, and performance for future electric cars from the group. The GV90 was also spotted testing at Germany's famed Nürburgring race track earlier this year, hinting that Genesis is paying close attention to the big SUV's driving dynamics, ensuring the comfort inside is matched by competence on the road.
