Rivian R2 possibly spotted in the wild during a promotional photo or video shoot

Rivian

Just yesterday Rivian brought us the first teaser video for its upcoming R2 SUV, which is becoming official on March 7, and today it already seems like an R2 was spotted out and about, 'in the wild' as it were, posing for cameras in either a photo or video promo shoot.

Do keep in mind that we can't vouch for the accuracy of the images here - this very well could be the R2, or maybe not. Still, it wouldn't be impossible for Rivian to set up a photo/video shoot of its upcoming model so close to its unveiling, and such a shoot taking place on the roof of a parking lot makes sense since access can more easily be restricted. As it turns out, however, people can still take pictures from more elevated positions even if they are further away than would be ideal.

The first image posted to the thread below made its way to Reddit first, and then a couple of more images were added on X (formerly Twitter) a few hours after that as you can see.

If this is the R2, then it very obviously looks like a Rivian - then again we already knew that from the teaser video that surfaced yesterday, which showed us the front lights and the car's overall silhouette.

If you're wondering why these images all have a watercolor painting look to them, they're most likely captured with a smartphone, and not one that's great at zooming over such long distances. They seem to be shot from a tall building that's nearby the parking lot in question, and for anything of better quality you'd need a very long tele lens.

In case you aren't updated on all things Rivian, the R2 SUV is going to be its cheapest model yet, initially expected to start at around $40,000, which is almost half the price of Rivian's existing SUV, the R1S. Thus, it should get more people to experience the most loved car brand of 2023.
