Xiaomi

Xiaomi has just reached an important milestone with its very young electric vehicle division. The company announced that the 100,000th unit of the SU7 EV has rolled off the assembly line at the Beijing factory. This comes just 230 days after the SU7 officially launched in March, a trully remarkable feat for a newcomer in this industry.

The SU7 is Xiaomi's first entry into the EV market, and it now directly competes with the Tesla Model 3. Available in three versions - Standard, Pro, and Max - the SU7 has a starting price of RMB 215,900 ($29,850), making it a more affordable option compared to its American rival. In October, Xiaomi also introduced the SU7 Ultra, a high-performance variant with a price tag of RMB 814,900 ($113,000).

Xiaomi's initial goal was to reach 100,000 cumulative deliveries of the SU7 series by the end of the year. The company later revised that and the delivery milestone is expected later this month,. The new goal is now 120,000 deliveries by the end of 2024.

This confidence is supported by strong sales figures the SU7 achieved in recent months. Although Xiaomi hasn't disclosed exact monthly delivery numbers, it revealed that deliveries exceeded 10,000 units from July to September and surged to over 20,000 units in October.

Xiaomi SU7 hits 100,000 units production milestone

The production of the SU7 takes place at Xiaomi's own facility in Beijing. The plant's first phase has an annual capacity of 150,000 units, and the second phase is currently under construction. The plant reached a remarkable 160% production capacity rate in October. To ease delivery pressure, Xiaomi is pushing its monthly production to 24,000 units and reaching nearly a 200% capacity rate.

With ambitious production targets and a growing lineup of EVs, Xiaomi is challenging established automakers and contributing to the accelerated adoption of electric cars worldwide. The SU7's success is a significant achievement for Xiaomi and highlights the increasing prominence of Chinese automakers in the global EV landscape.

Everyone was complaining how garbage was the SU7, quality issues, broken on first 40km. And look at how Xiaomi's doing, 100k sold despite the criticism.
