Xiaomi

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is teasing a stunning silver color option for its highly anticipated SU7 Ultra, adding to the excitement surrounding its upcoming launch. The new color reveal comes just ahead of the SU7 Ultra's market debut on February 27th.

The newly revealed "Cosmic Silver" finish gives the SU7 Ultra a sleek and modern aesthetic. This is, so far, the second color option presented by Xiaomi, following bright yellow. The silver exterior is complemented by striking golden emblems and eye-catching yellow brake calipers, creating a visually dynamic contrast. Black rims and a carbon fiber roof further enhance the car's sporty and premium look. Xiaomi has hinted at five total color options for the Ultra, while the standard SU7 comes with a choice of ten colors, including a recently added pink shade called "Brilliant Magenta."

Beyond its captivating aesthetics, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is a serious high-performance machine. This electric sedan is powered by three electric motors, generating a combined peak power output of 1,138 kW (1,526 horsepower). This power translates to blistering acceleration, with the SU7 Ultra reaching 0 to 62 mph in 1.98 seconds. Its top speed is impressive 217 mph.

Powering this performance is a 93.7 kWh CATL Qilin 2.0 battery, capable of a maximum discharge power of 1,330 kW. The vehicle also features the largest carbon ceramic brake discs ever fitted to a sports car. The SU7 Ultra rides on R21 wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero 5 tires, and its aerodynamic design includes a rear spoiler with a width of 1560 mm, generating 628 lb of downforce. The car's dimensions measure 201.4 inches in length, 77.6 inches in width, and 57.7 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 118 inches.

Xiaomi began taking pre-orders for the SU7 Ultra on October 29th of the previous year, and the initial response was overwhelming, with 3,680 orders placed within just 10 minutes. The original launch date was set for March 2025, but Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently announced that the SU7 Ultra will hit the market sooner than expected, on February 27th. Xiaomi plans to sell 10,000 units of this high-performance EV in 2025.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra comes with a price tag of RMB 814,900 in China, which is approximately $111,800. For context, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, another high-performance electric car, is priced significantly higher in China, reaching RMB 1,998,000 yuan (around $280,000). Its local competition is made up of the Zeekr 001 FR and the new Yangwang U9, with Tesla Model S Plaid just barely hanging on to its title of the fastest four-door EV.
