XPeng

XPeng has significantly broadened the coverage of its XNGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) assisted driving feature, which aims to rival Tesla's forever-delayed FSD (Full Self-Driving). The expansion, encompassing 191 additional cities, brings the total support to 243 cities.

XNGP, XPeng's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), initially focused on highways and was aptly named Highway NGP. However, the company has now expanded its reach to urban areas, covering major cities in China. XPeng's ultimate goal is to provide driver assistance in all scenarios, ranging from highways to city roads, internal campus roads, and parking lots.

The recent release of Xmart OS 4.4.0 for eligible vehicles saw the introduction of the HD map-independent XNGP feature in an additional 20 cities. Further expanding on December 29, XPeng's announcement increased coverage to 52 cities after completing beta testing in 27 more locations. Vehicles eligible for these features will need to upgrade to Xmart OS 4.5.0.

The X9 MPV will be the first vehicle to be delivered with the latest XNGP features and extended city coverage. Equipped with 2 LiDARs, the Max version vehicles, unlike the Pro trims, can leverage City NGP functionality, enabling pilot-assisted driving in urban areas.

From a technical standpoint, XNGP demonstrates the capability to support urban smart driving nationwide, with batches of cities receiving access post-engineering validation. The XNGP boasts an overall perception coverage during driving equivalent to the size of 1.8 standard soccer fields, a testament to its advanced capabilities.

With XNGP's high-level smart driving now covering 90 percent of cities, the total available roads for the XPeng vehicle owners reach an impressive 353,560 miles, according to the company. XPeng emphasizes that the XNGP has completed over 1,860,000 miles of road verification, including highway kilometers, and simulated driving mileage has surpassed 90,100,000 miles, incorporating over 16,000 core simulation scenarios and 40,000 specialized simulation scenarios.
