XPeng

Chinese automaker XPeng is making a big push into the competitive European electric vehicle market, officially launching its 2025 G6 and G9 SUVs. Unveiled at the prestigious 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, these new electric cars bring some serious technological firepower, particularly impressing with their charging speed.

Pre-orders for the new models kicked off on July 11 across eight key European nations: Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. The company has set ambitious delivery targets, aiming to get the first vehicles to customers later this summer.

The pricing positions these EVs to compete with established players. The G6, a coupe-style SUV, starts at $55,800 for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version. The larger, more luxurious G9 RWD model begins at $69,800.

The headline feature for both the G6 and G9 is the advanced 800V electrical architecture, combined with a 5C ultra-fast charging battery technology. In simple terms, this would enable a charging rate that can fill the entire battery in 12 minutes, but since thermal throttling is quickly involved you won't get quite so far. Still, both cars can replenish their batteries at astonishing speeds.

The company claims a charge from 10% to 80% can be completed in just 12 minutes. The G9 can handle a peak charging power of 525 kW, while the smaller G6 maxes out at an almost as impressive 451 kW.

The Long-Range RWD G6 delivers a WLTP-estimated range of 332 miles and can accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in a respectable 6.3 seconds.

The larger G9's all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the G9 promises a range of 364 miles and a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds, putting it firmly in performance SUV territory.

XPeng made several tweaks to tailor these models specifically for the European market. The G6 gets a striking new "Nebula Purple" paint option, along with interior upgrades like wood-grain trim and a soft suede headliner.

A new capacitive steering wheel and, crucially, support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been added. For the G9, enhancements include heat-insulated roof panels and a panoramic glass roof with thermal protection to keep the cabin comfortable, as well as ten-point massage seats for an extra touch of luxury.

The European expansion builds on XPeng's growing international success. The company delivered 18,701 vehicles outside of China in the first half of 2025 alone - that's a 217% increase compared to the previous year. This performance has made it the top-selling Chinese EV brand in ten markets, including Denmark and Norway.
