90,000 reservations and still growing - GMC Hummer EV is a hit

GM

Who would have thought that the 4.1 metric ton electric brute would be so popular? 90,000 people want the gas-guzzler-turned-EV and more keep signing up. According to Rich Latek, GMC’s marketing director, over 90% of reservations end up being converted to actual orders.

90,000 reservations and still growing - GMC Hummer EV is a hit

Let’s look at the numbers a little bit closer - GMC Hummer EV starts at $84,650 for the EV2 model with 250+ miles of range, but delivery is expected in the spring of 2024. If you want one the next spring, then you need to pony up at least $94,650 for Hummer EV2X, it has the same 625hp and ridiculous 7,400 lb-ft of torque (estimated by GM) but it gets a better 300+ mile range.

If you don’t want to wait at all and want this electric tank now, you’ll have to part with at least $104,650 for the EV3X version, which can be delivered this fall. For that much of your hard-earned money, you’ll get the 830hp truck with 300+ mile range and even more ridiculous 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Oh yes, let’s not forget 3.5 seconds 0 to 60mph time.

90,000 reservations and still growing - GMC Hummer EV is a hit

The Hummer EV Edition 1 is completely sold out and if your itch needs scratching immediately, it’ll cost you at least $200,000. There are exactly 85 Hummer EVs for sale on the cars.com website - the cheapest one goes for $185,000 and the dearest sits at an eye-watering $259,000. There is one Edition1 listed at $111,000 but in the description, it says: “10-cylinder ZEV 1000hp” - the dealer may be a bit confused by all this new tech.

According to Mr. Latek, the majority of orders are for the higher, more expensive trims. Hummer EV production is nowhere near its intended volumes, technically the car is still in the rollout phase. The EV3X version goes into full production in October this year with the lower trim following it next year and the cheapest version will finally go into production in 2024.

90,000 reservations and still growing - GMC Hummer EV is a hit

GMC Hummer EV is unreal, it is everything the electric car shouldn’t be and probably for that reason, it gets a huge following. It’s brutal, it’s huge and unapologetic. Just like the original Hummer, it makes a statement and you just can’t argue with it. If you try, it’ll just drive over you.

Well its a huge success. I just want to make you to understand reservation and actually buying or sold one is not the same.

The range - yes, it's an issue. Your reservations - not an issue, rather good business sense ;)

I made three reservations for the 1000 HP first edition, yes three with only 900 dollars each... But I don't know what to do with that low range...
