Avatr 12 liftback gets certified in China with Huawei-made electric motors, here's what it looks like

Avatr Changan CATL Huawei

The Avatr 12 is coming soon to take its place alongside the Avatr 11 in the brand's EV portfolio. Avatr is a joint venture between Changan and CATL, with Huawei providing a lot of parts for it even though it doesn't own any of its shares.

Case in point: the Avatr 12 has Huawei-made electric motors. The upcoming car has been certified for sale in China by the relevant authorities, and this process has yielded the images of it that you can see below.

Unlike the Avatr 11, which is an SUV, the Avatr 12 is a liftback. It comes with a futuristic design and it's 197.6 inches long, 78.7 inches wide, 57.5 inches tall, featuring a 118.9 inches wheelbase. The RWD version weighs 4,806 lb, while the 4WD one goes all the way up to 5,071 lb.

The former develops 230 kW (313 hp) from its rear motor, while the latter's power is 425 kW (578 hp) in total. Battery capacity for either model is still a mystery, but since the powertrains seem to be shared with the Avatr 11, maybe the batteries will too? If so, then expect to see two options: 90.4 kWh and 116.8 kWh.

The Avatr 12 is apparently ready for mass production now, and when it hits the streets it will compete with the likes of the Nio ET7 and Zeekr 001. Avatr 11 has so far sold 10,755 units, let's see how well the 12 is going to do.
