Chery

Chery first announced its Omoda 5 SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year and now, during the Geneva/Qatar Motor Show, the company is pulling the wraps off of the EV variant. For those of you who don't know, Chery plans to deliver EV and ICE configurations to the European market as well.

The Omoda 5 EV will arrive with a 61 kWh battery pack, capable of doing 280 miles on a charge. Power figures weren't confirmed, but the SUV can hit 62 mph in 7.6 seconds. The vehicle also supports 110 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Visually, the EV model isn't all that different from the ICE variant, but it does have a couple of changes. Most notably, the front grille is replaced with a solid, white surface to improve aerodynamics.

Unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait for the official launch next year to the full details on the Omoda 5 EV.
