Lucid Air gets a breath of fresh air with new price tags

Lucid

Lucid Motors, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has decided to give its customers an early holiday gift. And no, it's not a free air freshener with the purchase of a car. It's something much better: a significant price cut across its Lucid Air lineup.

The Lucid Air Pure AWD, which boasts a respectable 480 hp, has seen its price tag drop from the previous $92,900 (plus a rather hefty $1,650 shipping fee) to a more wallet-friendly $82,400. Lucid has even graciously reduced the shipping fee - destination charge - to $1,500. That's right, not only is Lucid cutting the price of the car, but it's also making it cheaper to get it to you. How thoughtful - thank you, Lucid.

No, this isn't an infomercial, but it sure starts feeling like one. If you're looking for something even more budget-friendly, Lucid is set to roll out the Air Pure RWD. According to the company's online configurator, this model will be a cool $5,000 cheaper, with a starting price of $77,400 (excluding that $1,500 destination fee). Mark your calendars because this model will be available in September 2023.

For those who like a bit more oomph in their drive, the 620-hp Lucid Air Touring trim is now starting at $95,000 or a whopping $12,000 less than last time we checked. This means Lucid is now offering two models under the $100,000 mark. And for the high-rollers, the 1,050-hp Lucid Air Grand Touring has also seen a generous price cut, now starting at $125,600. That's another $12,500 lobbed off the price - how generous.

Why the sudden generosity, you ask? Lucid claims these price adjustments are part of a larger strategy to boost sales and marketing efforts. The goal? To capitalize on their growing brand recognition and drive up demand. But here's a fun fact: did you know that Lucid Motors was founded by a former Tesla engineer? It seems they're not just competing in the EV market but also in the "who can give the best deals" market.

If you're not in the market to buy but still want to experience the luxury of a Lucid Air, the company has also rolled out special lease pricing for the three Air trims. You can now lease the Lucid Air Pure AWD for $749/month, the Air Touring for $1,149/month, and the Air Grand Touring for $1,399/month. All for 36 months. If you really want one, you better act fast, as these offers are only available until the end of August.

If you've been on the fence about getting a Lucid Air, now might be the time to make a move. With these price cuts, Lucid is making a clear statement with those price cuts: it's here to stay, and it will fight for its place in the EV market.
