Ford starts handing out free NACS adapters for the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E

A lot of EV makers have, over the past few months, announced deals with Tesla for access to its Supercharger network in North America. In return, said EV makers adopted Tesla's NACS connector for their future vehicles, while for the ones already on sale, all promised adapters would become available at some point.

Ford is now the first one to actually make good on that promise. Starting today, eligible owners of an F-150 Lightning or Mustang Mach-E can reserve a complimentary NACS adapter with which they will be able to access Tesla Superchargers.

Ford will set up a dedicated website for the charging adapters over here. This should already be up but for some reason CEO Jim Farley posted on X about it before it was ready. Anyway, it's probably only a matter of hours now.

Farley says he's proud that his company is the first to offer such adapters to its customers. There will be support for Plug and Charge too for the F-150 and Mustang, so all you need to do at a Supercharger is plug the charger in. Farley himself tested this and says it "works great".

Undoubtedly, all of the other companies that announced they would provide access to Tesla Superchargers will follow along with their own adapters, free or not. It seems like the NACS connector finally becomes what its name says it should be: the North American Charging Standard.
